RYLAN BUTERA
Rylan Butera is a film composer whose work is defined by narrative intuition and a relentless commitment to the story. His recent score for the 2025 feature Recollection supported the film’s wins for Best Northwest Feature and Audience Choice at the Spokane International Film Festival. Additionally, he has scored a range of acclaimed short films, with music that enhances the emotional arc of each project.

In addition to scoring, Rylan is deeply involved in the narrative process for film projects. As a credited story contributor and creative producer, he works closely in the writing room with his brother and longtime collaborator, writer-director Caden Butera. This deep connection to story allows his scores to be instinctual, expressive, and narratively precise.

With a background in jazz piano and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Texas Christian University, Rylan writes with fluency across orchestral and electronic styles. His scores are textural, emotionally tuned, and always composed with the picture in mind.
